Kaboost: An Update
Back in February I wrote a review of the Kaboost, a product that boosts a normal chair’s height from underneath, allowing the child to sit on an adult chair at the dinner table. I had mixed feelings about the product but, despite the niggles, I felt it was the best ‘booster’ available. However, having used the Kaboost with Garden Girl and Garden Boy for 5 months now, I have become very disappointed with the quality of the product. The plastic casing which conceals the springs on the adjustable sections has started to break off on both of our Kaboosts. This looks unsightly but far more importantly has become a safety hazard as a toddler could easily get their fingers trapped in the springs. The Kaboosts make the chairs quite heavy and awkward to move when there is a child on the chair and the plastic casing broke, on both the Kaboosts, when I was tucking the children under the table. Due to the poor quality of the plastic and the safety risk of exposed springs I would no longer recommend this product.

I was very interested to read Jenni’s experience with the Kaboost. I have used this for just over a year when my grandson comes to visit – i.e. only occasional use and thought it was a great idea. However I have just discovered the same faults,- broken plastic and exposed springs, making the ‘booster’ unstable and dangerous. I am disappointed as I was intending to use the Kaboost for my next grandchild. This
item is promoted as able to take 300lbs weight and suitable for child up to six years. My grandson is only three, and we have definitely not had the use I had expected from the Kaboost – it is now fit only to be thrown away. I have contacted the manufacturers/marketers.
Hi Chetna, I would be interested to hear how you get on with the manufacturers as I e-mailed them to tell them what had happened with both our Kaboosts and they simply failed to respond to me.
Hi Jenni,
I too have contacted the manufacturers who referred me to the retailers; (they were not interested as product was (just) over 1 year old (i.e. out of guarantee) and they no longer stock it.)
Further e-mail to manufacturers elicited no response.
I feel very disappointed about this as even if they don’t want to compensate me I would have thought they would be interested to inspect the broken Kaboost and be concerned to address the matter of using better materials.
