Olay Total Effects Wake Up Wonder

Total Effects Wake Up Wonder is Olay’s latest anti-aging moisturiser which claims to provide seven anti-aging effects by;

  • reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • giving a healthy, radiant glow
  • hydrating the skin to give a firmer appearance
  • improving skin surface dullness
  • smoothing the skin
  • minimising the appearance of pores
  • acting as an antioxidant

Olay supplied a bottle for review and I have been using it for almost two weeks now.  I like it for a number of reasons. Firstly, my usual moisturiser is as an Olay product. I trust the brand, so I have faith in their claims. Secondly, now that I am in my thirties, I feel that switching to an anti-ageing moisturiser is probably a good step. And finally, the product itself seems to work.

It contains mint extract which has just enough of a cooling action to leave the skin feeling fresh when it has been applied. The lightweight cream is also absorbed quickly so it doesn’t leave the skin looking shiny and greasy. In fact it does really seem to wake up my skin and give it a subtle glow. My friend commented a few days ago that I looked particularly well. I had applied the cream less than an hour before she arrived.

The only thing missing is sun protection, but this is a big miss. My usual Olay cream does have  an SPF15, which I like because it saves me having to apply sun cream as well. This lack of sun protection leaves me a little undecided about Olay Total Effects Wake Up Wonder because I do like the effect it has on my skin. Perhaps it is a moisturiser only to be used in the winter months when sun protection isn’t as much of an issue.
