Seasalt Cornwall Organic Clothing; Tin Cloth Jackets

Seasalt are one of those brands which unless you love organic and ethical clothing or visit the South- West on your holidays, you many not have heard of. However, they are in fact the largest producer of Soil Association certified clothing in the world. One of the best things about the brand is that they are not only ethical, but a family run business. I love unusual, ethical, organic clothing and scour the internet for good quality reasonable products. Seasalt are one of my first ports of call when I am looking for new things.

As an archaeologist and a mother, one of the essential items in my wardrobe is a waterproof jacket. I can get through one or two a year, as they really endure some hard work! It’s virtually impossible to find organic cotton waterproofed coats, especially those that are reasonably priced. That’s where I was amazed by the Tin Cloth range that Seasalt have just developed. It’s their take on traditional oil cloth fabric and is organic, breathable, showerproof and windproof. Reasonably priced and stylish, I think they are onto a winner here.

I was sent the Nimbus Mac to try out. I have been wearing it a lot, it’s ideal for throwing on and waiting outside the school and wandering about urban foraging or visiting museums. I’m a standard size 12 and I thought the fit was great. The design is really usual, if a bit more colourful than I anticipated. However, it gives this years Boden coats a run for the money. I’ve had a lot of compliments. What made this coat stand out from the usual waterproofs I buy is the quality; it’s really well made, with buttons and fastenings to keep the pockets in place. It feels a lot more expensive than it is. I love it, brilliant, funky, ethical, quality what more could you want?
